2011 Indianapolis 500 entry list Released

Bookmark and Share IZOD Indycars Series and Indianapolis MotorSpeedway have released the 2011 Indianapolis 500 entry list that includes 21 racing entries and top-level drivers from all from over the world.

An outstanding depth and quality in the field guarantees plenty of dramatic action on both qualifying days and the race day as the traditional race will celebrate its 100th anniversary since the first event in the brickyard back in 1911. Specifically 2011 Indy 500 Entry List includes:

Four past winners of Indy 500.
Defending Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti (2007, 2010) leads the list of past winners, which also includes Helio Castroneves (2001-02, 2009), Scott Dixon (2008) and Dan Wheldon (2005).
In fact, Dario Franchitti will attempt to become the 10th driver to earn at least three Indianapolis 500 victories in his racing career, while Castroneves will try to become just the fourth 4-time winner in the illustrious history of the race, joining A.J. Foyt, Al Unser and Rick Mears.

Four Series champions include Dixon (2003, 2008), Franchitti (2007, 2009, 2010), Tony Kanaan (2004) and Wheldon (2005).

Four ex-pole winners: Bruno Junqueira (2002), Helio Castroneves (2003, 2007, 2009, 2010), Tony Kanaan (2005), Scott Dixon (2008).

Five drivers comprise a strong rookie crop: IZOD IndyCar Series rookie regulars JR Hildebrand, James Hinchcliffe, James Jakes and Charlie Kimball, and Jay Howard.

Three women were among the drivers named to entries: 2005 Chase Rookie of the Year Danica Patrick, 2010 Chase Rookie of the Year Simona De Silvestro and Ana Beatriz.

One ex-F1 driver Takuma Sato as the 4-time ChampCars champion and ex-F1 driver Sebastien Bourdais' entry hasn't yet confirmed.

Youngest driver to compete is 20-years old Sebastian Saavedra.

Oldest driver to compete is 48-years old Davey Hamilton.

Most experienced brickyard driver is John Andretti with 11 event starts.
