Russian russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin tested his capabilities as a Formula 1 pilot, driving a luminous Renault F1 car and reaching speeds in the region of 240 kilometres per hour (150mph) on a special track in the Leningrad Region in Russia's northwest.
Putin was provided a special helmet with Russia's national emblem and the word Russia inscribed on it, and also a Formula 1 outfit with his initials.
Over the years, Putin has been seen flipping opponents on the judo mat, riding a horse bare-chested through the mountains and swimming the butterfly stroke in a Siberian river. This summer he showed his prowess by firing darts from a crossbow at a gray whale while being tossed around in choppy seas. He also took the controls of a firefighting plane to dump water on one of the wildfires that was choking Moscow with acrid smoke. But his sudden interest in racing comes after Russia’s successful bid to hold an F1 event after the Sochi Olympics in 2014. A deal for a Russia’s first Grand Prix in Sochi was signed three weeks ago.
