Nascar Silly Season: Casey Mears settles at Germain Racing and Max Papis moves to Truck Series

Bookmark and Share After a disappointing performance with RedBull, Casey Mears will drive the No. 13 Toyota Germain Racing car replacing Max Papis who will move into team’s No. 9 Camping World Truck Series for the whole 2011 season.

Mears will make his first Sprint Cup appearance with the team next month at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Emory Healthcare 500 even and is scheduled to compete in 18 events in 2011 in which Geico will provide sponsorship.
"It’s a great opportunity and I believe with all the hard work that Germain Racing has put into their Cup program, as well as our relationship with Michael Waltrip Racing, that we’ll be able to do good things"

Italian Indycars veteran Max Papis an Indycar veteran driver has made 18 starts this season, with a double best finish of 22nd. His best career finish in Cup is 8th, at last season's course event at the Glen.

"Since I came to NASCAR, one of my goals has been to have the opportunity to run a complete racing schedule. When GEICO and Germain Racing, a Truck Series championship team, approached me with an offer to represent them for a full season in the Camping World Truck series, I saw it as a unique opportunity that I simply could not turn down.
I am very proud to have been part of the development of a brand-new Sprint Cup team that has already made their mark when we recorded our first top-10 finish at Watkins Glen last year, while running only part time over the last year and a half."
