Following his departure from Williams Grand Prix Nico Hulkenberg announced that he eventually decided to split with his manager Willi Weber.
Although Hulkenberg made his F1 debut at Williams Grand Prix having a quite successful season, it seemed that he actually blamed Weber for losing his seat and securing just a reserve drive position at Force India. Nevertheless, after Williams worst ever start of the season, it seems that Hulkenberg's departure was rather a wise move.
A statement on Hulkenberg's website said:
"Nico Hulkenberg and manager Willi Weber part their ways. The 23-year-old Formula One driver from now on takes management matters in his own hands.
Both sides are currently working on a smooth changeover and on a satisfying solution for everyone. Hulkenberg will from now on be supported in executing his management issues by his former PR advisor Timo Gans."
German Willi Weber is widely known as the manager who successfully brought the Schumachers into F1, making a lot of money from their success during early 00s. Yet, apart from Hulkenberg Weber had remained without any significant young talent under his management as most of young drivers now prefer to establish their racing career through F1-backed management firms like RedBull's junior program or Gravity Management (which has a significant share on Lotus Renault Grand Prix), instead of having individual managers.
