Aldo Costa steps down as Ferrari Technical Director

Bookmark and Share Ferrari announced that team's technical director Aldo Costa has relinquished his position due to the disappointing start of Ferrari's 2011 season.
Aldo Costa who had been Ferrari's Technical director since 2007 has been replaced by Pat Fry who joined the team from McLaren.

A short statement from the team says:
“Scuderia Ferrari announces that, as from today, Aldo Costa relinquishes his current position as Technical Director to take on new responsibilities within the Company.
At the same time, the technical activity has been restructured in three areas: Director for the Chassis side is Pat Fry, Production is in the hands of Corrado Lanzone, while Engine and Electronics continues with Luca Marmorini. All three report directly to the Team Principal, Stefano Domenicali.”

Recently, Ferrari announced that Chris Dyer was replaced as head of race track engineering after the 2010 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix fiasco, that cost Alonso the World Championship, but now it seemed that Aldo Costa would have the same fate after a disappointing start of the 2011 season and Fry will be provided with extended technical responsibilities within the team. It is believed that it has been Alonso who actually brought Fry at Ferrari, after working together in McLaren, in his attempt to make himself and Ferrari the dominant successful combination in F1.
A similar management restructuring has been already announced by the Williams Grand Prix as a result of team's worst ever performance after the imminent replacement of Sam Michaels by Mike Coughlan.
