Stewart's Australian Mess

Bookmark and Share tony Stewart who was competing in Australia competing in sprint-car ARCA series, was released after being interviewed at the Rosehill police station in western Sydney about his involvement in an altercation that too place in the Sydney Speedway.

Several auto racing websites reported that the fight was caused by Stewart who was upset about track conditions and that the other man involved was speedway co-owner Brett Morris. The Australian newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Stewart was sporting a black eye after being punched in the face by Morris.

New South Wales state police spokesperson Joanne Elliott announced:
"Police from Rosehill central command were alerted to an altercation involving two men at a race car track about 7:30 last night. A 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene after a 46-year-old man was allegedly hit in the face by a racing helmet. The 39-year-old man was released without charge, pending further investigation."

Stewart was reportedly scheduled to leave Australia immediately without further police issues and phone or e-mail messages to Sydney Speedway seeking official comment from Morris weren't successful.
