Villeneuve back on Nationwide Series

Jacques Villeneuve will drive the #32 Dollar General Toyota of Braun Racing in the upcoming NASCAR Nationwide Series’ inaugural event Bucyrus 200 at Road America circuit at Elkhart Lake.

Villeneuve will be keen to return Elkhart Lake where he scored his first C.A.R.T. victory back in 1994 at Texaco/Havoline 200.

This will be Villeneuve’s 3rd career Nationwide Series RACE after the 2008 and 2009 events at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Last season, Villeneuve qualified Braun Racing’s #32 Toyota Camry in the sixth position. Despite heavy rain conditions that enveloped the area for the second consecutive year, the highly skilled driver brought home a fourth-place finish.
Villeneuve commented about the forthcoming event:
"It’s great to be back driving with Braun Racing and Dollar General. Racing again after an exciting and fun race last year in Montreal, and now to also be doing the race at Elkhart Lake (Road America) where I won my first Indy race is going to be full of good memories! I am very much looking forward to it!"

Villeneuve was furthermore interviewed with Austria's Salzburger Nachrichten about his F1 return. However, seems unlikely to be on the grid any time soon, as Renault team boss Eric Boullier said recently that he is not interested in signing Villeneuve and Stefan GP hasn't yet secured a place in the grid. villeneuve is well aware that a contract with a top team isnt so easy as it was at Schumacher's case.
"I am working on it more than ever, and for that reason I have postponed a participation in the NASCAR circuit... There are some positive contacts. If the Stefan project had worked out, I would be driving in F1 already this year... I have a longer-term plan," he said. "The most important thing is to get inside, and then you can look around and find the right place."

Braun Racing owner, Todd Braun, said:
"We are very happy to have Villeneuve back behind the wheel of the Dollar General Toyota at Road America and Montreal. He is an extremely talented driver and has had very strong runs in our cars in the past. His experience and success at Road America will be a great asset to our team and its road course program."
