Hispania Racing Team unveils F1 car
In Murcia, Spain, where the headquarter of the team is found, Jose Ramon Carabante, Chairman of the first Spanish Formula 1 Team was delighted to show the media their challenger for their Formula One debut. Despite the lack of testing, the team is ready for the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 14th.
The team has its own chassis coming from Dallara, and in addition, are one of the three teams that will utilize the Cosworth engines for this season. It will also be the first Formula One entry coming from Spain.
HRT's team manager role has been assigned to Dr. Collin Kolles, who made his F1 mark as a Team Manager of Midland, Spyker and finally Force India, before continuing on with Audi sports cars last season.
"Murcia is where the roots of the team are and this is why we want this historic moment to launch of the first ever Spanish team to be written on the walls of the dynamic city of Murcia. I am excited by our driver lineup and the amazing effort and passion I have witnessed from our entire team to get to this point. We have all the tools in our hands to become the most successful new team in the F1 paddock this year." ?Kolles quoted.
Team's 2010 lineup is quite an interesting one, with one of the most famous names in history: Senna. The nephew of the three time world champion, Bruno Senna finished second in GP2 in 2008, will be team's first driver and the second driving role - following many speculations the latest month was given to the Indian driver Karun Chandhok becomes the second driver from his country in five years to contest the Formula One World Championship. Chandhok, like his teammate, made his mark in GP2 over the past five years, and after unsuccessfully attempting to join native his team Force India he finally manager to ignite his F1 career.
Team owner Carabante was the one who has chosen team's name. "The name of the team contains the word Hispania, which is not only the name of one of my companies, but Hispania was also the Roman name for the Iberian Peninsula. That reflects our team's new identity. 2010 will be a major debut for the team and drivers at the wheel of our HRT F1 Team car."
